QUALITY INSPECTOR

Responsibilities:
- Inspect Welds: Examine welded joints for defects, such as cracks, porosity, incomplete fusion, and excessive spatter.
- Verify Weld Specifications: Ensure that welds conform to the welding procedure specifications (WPS) and applicable codes and standards, such as those from the American Welding Society (AWS) or other relevant organizations.
- Document Inspection Results: Maintain detailed records of inspections, including photographs, measurements, and written reports, to provide a clear assessment of weld quality.
- Conduct Visual Inspections: Use visual inspection tools like magnifying glasses, mirrors, and borescopes to thoroughly examine welds.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Depending on the job, perform non-destructive testing methods like ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, radiographic testing, or dye penetrant testing to detect internal defects.
- Evaluate Welder Qualifications: Verify that welders are qualified and certified for the specific welding processes and materials they are using.
- Inspect Welding Equipment: Ensure that welding machines and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
- Quality Control: Collaborate with quality control and quality assurance teams to ensure that welding processes meet established standards.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety procedures and guidelines to protect both inspectors and welding personnel during inspections.
- Recommend Repairs: If defects or issues are found, provide recommendations for repairs or rework to bring the welds up to standard.
Qualifications:
- D1.1 Weld Inspection Experience Desired
- Experience in trailer manufacturing
- Work in a Quality assurance and fast paced manufacturing environment required
- General knowledge on operating computers, tablets, etc
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work efficiently in a team environment
