Wire EDM Operator -Machinist

Summary:

§ A Wire EDM Operator job involves programming, setting up, and operating wire EDM machines to precisely cut and shape metal parts, requiring strong technical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of machining principles.

Responsibilities:

• Programming and Setup:
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
• Programming EDM machines using CAD/CAM software or G-code.
• Setting up and adjusting machine parameters for optimal performance.
• Selecting appropriate wire electrode and fixtures.
• Operation and Monitoring:
• Operating wire EDM machines to produce parts according to specifications.
• Monitoring the EDM machining process to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Identifying and addressing potential problems or issues during operation.
• Inspection and Quality Control:
• Performing precision measurements and quality inspections of machined parts.
• Verifying dimensions, alignments, and clearances using measuring instruments.
• Ensuring that parts meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
• Maintenance and Safety:
• Maintaining machines and equipment in a safe and efficient working condition.
• Following safety procedures and regulations.
• Keeping the work area clean and organized.
• Other Duties:
• Collaborating with engineers, toolmakers, and other team members.
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Providing support for other machining processes.

Qualifications:

· High School Graduate or equivalent.

· 5 years of solid experience in set-up and operation of wire EDM machine.

· Ability to work from complex drawings with close tolerances.

· Experience with low volume, high mix production

· Master CAM programming.preferred

· Ability to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

· Experience with gages and measuring equipment.

Organizational Relationships:

§ Reports to the Operations Supervisor and works closely with operations, engineering, and Admin-CSR.

§ This position involves contact with various levels of employees within the company.

May include lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion. Requires pushing/pulling maximum force of 150 lbs.

o The performance of this position exposes the individual to the manufacturing area of the business that requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, and occasionally under certain conditions require hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional manufacturing equipment as found in a manufacturing environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
