JOB SUMMARY:
The Positive Pathways Coach is a passionate and dedicated mentor responsible for supporting the personal, academic, and emotional development of youth - particularly at-risk boys - through guidance, leadership, and skill-building. This role focuses on creating transformative relationships that empower young people to overcome obstacles, discover their potential, and walk confidently down a path of positive decision-making and life success.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Positive Pathways Coach will facilitate structured group sessions, provide one-on-one mentoring, and collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to create a holistic support system for participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a consistent, caring mentor and role model for program participants.
- Facilitate engaging workshops and group mentoring sessions focused on leadership, life skills, conflict resolution, and self-empowerment.
- Support goal setting, academic progress, and personal growth of each youth in the program.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, school staff, and community agencies.
- Monitor participant progress and document engagement activities and outcomes.
- Participate in community outreach and recruitment events to promote program awareness.
- Assist with program planning, evaluation, and improvement in collaboration with the Program Manager.
- Uphold organizational values of respect, empowerment, accountability, and integrity.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with youth, particularly from underserved or at-risk communities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate young people.
- Culturally competent and capable of working in diverse communities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and clear boundaries.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check clearance required.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience facilitating youth programs or group discussions.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
- Familiarity with school systems and youth services.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.99 - $18.99 per hour
