Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Day Porter to join our team. The Day Porter plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the Emergency Department (ED) and throughout the hospital. This position ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors and staff. Ideal candidates have experience in custodial services, commercial cleaning, or environmental services in hospitals or similar settings.
Job Summary
The Day Porter is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the ED during their shift. When there is downtime, responsibilities extend to other hospital areas, including trash removal, dusting, restroom maintenance, and light cleaning.
Responsibilities
- Emergency Department Focus:
- Maintain cleanliness in the ED throughout the shift.
- Empty trash, sanitize surfaces, and clean restrooms in the ED.
- General Cleaning:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Maintain floors using proper care techniques, including stripping, waxing, and buffing as needed.
- Supplies and Maintenance:
- Monitor and restock supplies in restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas.
- Respond promptly to spills or accidents to maintain safety and cleanliness.
- Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned by management.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and infection control protocols during cleaning duties.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- Experience:
- Previous experience in custodial services or commercial cleaning preferred.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of floor care techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical cleaning tasks.
- Certifications:
- Biohazard training (provided).
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to cleaning and sanitation practices.
- Health and Safety:
- TB test and immunizations required within 30 days of employment.
- No felonies within the last 7 years.
