Seasonal Nursery/Lumber Yard Associate

Diamond Home Improvement has immediate openings for highly motivated and experienced individuals to join our team in our lumber yard and nursery. Main areas of responsibility include: assisting customers with finding, purchasing, and loading yard materials; ensuring yard merchandise is properly maintained, displayed, marked, and priced; maintaining cleanliness; assisting with receiving incoming merchandise, and loading outgoing deliveries; and maintaining security in the yard. Valid forklift certification is a plus but can be obtained after employment.

Summary

Assists customers in finding, purchasing, and loading yard materials. Ensures yard merchandise is properly maintained, displayed, marked, and priced and that the yard is clean. Assists in receiving incoming merchandise, loading outgoing deliveries, and in maintaining security in the yard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Proactively greets customers friendly, warmly and offering help, service and knowledge to ensure a satisfied customer. Thanks each customer for shopping at Diamond
• Interacts with customers to determine needs and match them to available merchandise.
• Maintains thorough knowledge in the use, application, and location of all yard merchandise.
• Assists customers and fellow employees with loading, unloading, and moving merchandise for purchase or delivery.
• Delivers material or assists Delivery Drivers as needed.
• Helps build and load trucks for delivery.
• Verifies sales receipt to merchandise before customers leave yard.
• Maintains yard in neat orderly fashion.
• Safely operates equipment such as fork lift, carts, etc.
• Wears personal protective equipment when operating equipment and properly handles merchandise. Maintains a safe work area, free of debris and obstructions.
• Re-stocks merchandise and pulls cull lumber or damaged materials.
• Keeps stock rooms, gates, and entrances closed and guarded from unauthorized entry.
• Reports safety or security issues to Yard Foreman or Store Management immediately.
• Teaches other employees how to perform yard duties upon request.
• Maintains personal appearance at a high degree of professionalism and cleanliness at all times and in complete conformity with Diamond dress code.
