Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers in overseeing all aspects of commercial construction projects, from pre-construction to project completion.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.
- Help manage subcontractor relationships, including contract negotiation, scheduling, and performance monitoring.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Track project progress, identifying potential issues and proposing solutions to ensure project goals are achieved.
- Review project drawings and specifications to ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved plans and building codes.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including progress reports, RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, and submittals.
- Conduct site visits to monitor work progress, quality, safety standards, and compliance with regulations.
- Assist in resolving any on-site issues, including managing change orders and coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure proper handling of project documentation and help manage cost control, including tracking invoices and payment schedules.
- Support the Project Manager in all aspects of project management, from inception to final project closeout.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 2-3 years of experience in commercial construction or related field (preferably in an Assistant Project Manager or similar role).
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, methodologies, and project management software (Procore, Buildertrend, etc.).
- Ability to interpret construction documents, including blueprints, contracts, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
- Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on quality control and safety compliance.
- Familiarity with local building codes, safety regulations, and construction industry standards in Virginia.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, etc.).
