What You’ll Be Doing :
Estimate Project Costs : Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems for multifamily construction projects.
Bid Management : Review project plans and specifications to develop comprehensive bids, identifying all potential costs, and determining the scope of work.
Collaborate with Project Teams : Work closely with project managers, designers, and engineers to understand project specifications and ensure all estimates reflect the latest project details and requirements.
Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination : Obtain competitive bids and quotes from subcontractors , suppliers, and vendors, ensuring the most cost-effective solutions are included in the estimate.
Develop Detailed Proposals : Provide detailed, accurate proposals for mechanical systems, addressing labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Risk Assessment : Identify potential risks during the estimating process, addressing them proactively to avoid project delays or cost overruns.
Track and Update Estimates : Update estimates as necessary, accounting for changes to project scope, materials, or labor costs throughout the project lifecycle.
Cost Analysis and Reporting : Perform ongoing cost analysis to monitor project budgets and assist project managers with cost control during project execution.
Stay Current with Industry Trends : Keep up to date with changes in building codes, industry standards, and emerging technologies to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
What We’re Looking For :
3 years of experience in mechanical estimating , particularly for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems in multifamily construction projects .
Strong understanding of construction plans , specifications , and construction processes related to mechanical systems.
Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam , Procore , Trimble , or other industry-standard tools).
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple estimates and competing deadlines.
High attention to detail and strong analytical skills to ensure accurate estimates.
A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management , Mechanical Engineering , or a related field, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
Knowledge of multifamily construction and mechanical system design for residential buildings is highly desired.
