Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Construction Superintendent with a proven track record of managing and delivering K-12 and municipal construction projects. The Superintendent will oversee on-site operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight:
- Manage all on-site activities for K-12 and municipal construction projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and subcontractor coordination.
- Ensure construction is performed according to design specifications, drawings, and applicable building codes.
- Monitor project progress and adjust plans to address delays, unforeseen challenges, or scope changes.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and lead field teams, subcontractors, and trades to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
- Conduct daily site meetings to communicate project goals, safety protocols, and progress updates.
- Foster a collaborative work environment to maintain morale and team cohesion.
Quality Control:
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure work meets quality standards and project specifications.
- Identify and address deficiencies promptly to maintain project timelines.
Safety Management:
- Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies, conducting regular safety meetings and site inspections.
- Ensure all personnel adhere to safety protocols and use proper protective equipment.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination:
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate project updates, address concerns, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the construction process.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including site logs, timesheets, and change orders.
- Provide regular progress reports to project managers and senior leadership.
Schedule & Budget Adherence:
- Ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget by proactively managing resources and addressing potential issues.
- Collaborate with project managers to forecast and mitigate risks to project timelines and costs.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction, with significant experience in K-12 and municipal projects.
- Proven ability to manage projects from pre-construction through closeout.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards for K-12 and municipal buildings.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Skills:
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid) and scheduling tools (e.g., Microsoft Project).
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
- First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.
- Additional certifications in construction safety or project management are a plus.
