Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and design electrical systems for modular data centers, power modules, and custom modular solutions. This role involves leading a team of engineers, ensuring design cycles meet project schedules and budgets, and driving continuous improvement within the electrical engineering department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electrical systems for modular data centers, power modules, and custom modular solutions.
- Lead and manage electrical engineering team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Mentor and train electrical department resources on lessons learned and best practices.
- Ensure electrical design cycles meet project schedules and budgets.
- Interpret customer specifications and requirements, leading the selection of electrical equipment and components.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise in electrical design and specification reviews with cross-functional groups.
- Support supply chain activities, including vendor selection and component evaluation.
- Collaborate with clients and vendors to ensure designs meet technical requirements.
- Work closely with commercial services to ensure accurate cost estimation and design feasibility during the preconstruction phase.
- Resolve electrical design and build challenges in collaboration with the manufacturing team.
- Assist in managing the submittal process, ensuring timely and accurate material documentation.
- Perform load, short circuit, and voltage drop calculations to ensure system reliability and compliance.
- Contribute to department goals and KPIs, tracking progress and driving continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70 & 70E, International Building Code (IBC), and other relevant standards.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing principles and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to optimize design and production processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (experience from electricians with an engineering degree is highly valued).
- 10 years of experience in leading electrical design teams, preferably in the construction or manufacturing industries.
- Experience in data center or power distribution design is preferred.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Expertise in power distribution, electrical load management, and fault analysis.
- Expertise in controls and low voltage system design.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent software for electrical design.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70 & 70E, and International Building Code (IBC).
- Ability to interpret customer specifications and select appropriate equipment.
- Experience in performing load, short circuit, and voltage drop calculations.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
