We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Traveling Superintendent to oversee and manage the construction of large-scale big box retail projects across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing ground-up and remodel construction for major retail clients. This position requires extensive travel and the ability to lead teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all phases of construction projects from pre-construction to completion, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Manage daily on-site operations, including supervising subcontractors, enforcing safety protocols, and resolving field issues.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to ensure project alignment and clear communication.
- Maintain project schedules and budgets, identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to ensure workmanship meets company and client standards.
- Document and report project progress, including daily logs, RFIs, change orders, and punch lists.
- Foster strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and local officials to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Superintendent in big box retail construction.
- Proven experience in managing multiple large-scale retail projects simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices for retail environments.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel extensively and stay on-site for the duration of projects during the overnight shift.
- OSHA 30 Certification required.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with national big box retailers such as Walmart, Target, Home Depot, or similar.
- LEED Accreditation or familiarity with sustainable building practices.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
