What are the responsibilities and job description for the LVN/LPN Substance Use Detox/Residential position at Diamond Recovery?

Our Licensed Practical Nurse must possess an upbeat, kind, and nurturing attitude in order to be successful in the role. Compassion and empathy are paramount in our setting. The LPN performs a wide variety of job duties during their shifts; caring for and educating patients about their medical, substance use and mental health related conditions; establishing trust and building rapport with patients are key elements of this position. Working effectively with the leadership team to ensure success of the facility by completing the following core job duties:
- Meets and greets each new patient upon admission to the facility
- Initiates and completes initial nursing assessment at time of patient admission
- Communicates significant medical data and obtains physicians orders for admission upon patient’s arrival
- Reviews and explains all nursing related admission paperwork
- Assists in the search of patient’s person for any contraband
- Obtains the patient’s vital signs and medical history upon admission
- Monitor and record patient’s condition (CIWA & COWS) and document provided care services within EMR
- Administers medication as prescribed by a physician
- Medication storage, medication returns, medication destruction, calling pharmacy to resolve medication issues
- Resolve pending issues from the previous shift, e.g., missed or incomplete labs or treatments, incomplete admissions or discharges, missing data for continuity of care.
- Ability to function calmly in crisis situations
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff and patients
Minimum Requirements:
- Current LPN license - California
- One (1) year experience with chemical dependency, psychiatric detox, medical/surgical nursing and/or dual diagnosis substance programs
- Experience administering medication orally, subcutaneously, and through an IV
- Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of pain
- Relevant computer software and hardware applications proficiency – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Electronic Medical Records and/or other scheduling applications; KIPU preferred
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to respond calmly during an emergency
- 24/7 coverage; flexible schedules; shifts and days may vary
Preferred:
- Experience working in a medical/sub-acute detox environment, strongly preferred
- Experience working in a psychiatric hospital/ program environment, strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of Joint Commission standards, preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Per diem
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
