Summary/Objective:
Oversee the culinary operations. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for food, a commitment to excellent service, and a dedication to the well-being of our residents. This individual will manage the kitchen staff, menu planning, food preparation, and ensure that all dining services meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and nutrition.
Key Responsibilities:
Culinary Operations Management:
Supervise and coordinate all food preparation and service in accordance with dietary needs and preferences of residents.
Develop and maintain seasonal menus that are nutritious, and varied.
Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, cleanliness standards, and sanitation guidelines in accordance with local health codes.
Maintain kitchen equipment and inventory to ensure smooth kitchen operations and reduce food waste.
Staff Supervision & Training:
Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks and dietary aides, to provide excellent dining experiences.
Ensure all staff adhere to health and safety guidelines and foster a positive, respectful work environment.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance issues promptly.
Resident Experience:
Engage with residents to understand their preferences and ensure their satisfaction with meals.
Implement resident feedback to continuously improve the dining experience.
Organize special events, themed meals, or celebrations to enhance community engagement.
Budget & Cost Control:
Oversee food ordering, inventory management, and budgeting to ensure efficient use of resources.
Control food costs while maintaining high-quality meal service.
Administrative Duties:
Ensure all necessary documentation is completed, including food preparation logs, inventory reports, and health inspection reports.
Handle scheduling of kitchen staff to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a culinary management role, ideally within a healthcare or senior living setting.
Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Completion of ServSafe Food Manager Course.
Strong knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs specific to seniors.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Strong problem-solving skills and a flexible, adaptable approach.
Must understand the Vulnerable Adults Act.
Must complete and pass criminal background check.
Work Environment:
This position requires regular interaction with residents, staff, and visitors.
The Culinary Manager will be expected to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of the facility, including weekends and holidays as required.
The position will require standing for long periods, and occasional lifting of kitchen equipment and supplies.
The position will require frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
