Job Summary
Diamond Z is seeking an experienced and dedicated Health, Safety, and Environmental Coordinator to lead our organizations efforts in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all activities related to Diamond Z’s Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures in accordance with best practices and promoting a culture of safety. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards, conducting training, and fostering a safe working environment for all employees.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of safety rules and regulations according to company policies and in compliance with state/federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, IDEQ, and others, as required
- Conduct safety audits and on-site inspections to identify workplace hazards and unsafe equipment, working practices, or working conditions
- Investigate, analyze, and report findings on accidents and complete or verify accident reports
- Work with any technical specialists or external health and safety authorities to identify the causes of accidents and to prevent reoccurrence.
- Coordinate the education and training of Diamond Z’s workforce on safety to ensure that it is understood and complied with
- Maintains necessary and required documentation including monthly and annual reporting requirements to leadership and required state/federal agencies
- Oversee and collect data in regards to environmental annual reporting (Tier II, TRI) to supply to third party consultants for computations and submittal
- Maintain and update as necessary the Diamond Z SPCC plan
- Maintain adherence to NESHAP 6X requirements for observation
- Understands and follows all Diamond Z Safety policies and procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned or needed
Additional Responsibilities
- Assists with special projects
- Work with third party vendors to properly certify and submit annual environmental reports
- Collaborate with various departments to promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization and to to ensure accuracy of data collection
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to promote a team environment
- Stay updated on changes in HSE regulations and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance
Qualification Requirements:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or construction environment is preferred
- Ability to communicate bilingually is preferred
- Ability to function in a production environment and communicate comfortably with associates in all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently with little management supervision to complete given tasks, activities, and assignments
- Must have strong decision making and problem solving skills
- Have prior experience with writing and implementing policies and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Excellent report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Windows and MS Office
- Experience with steel fabrication and terminology is a plus
- Ability to occasionally travel
Working Conditions
The Safety Coordinator will be expected to work in a shop and yard environment with possible exposure to the elements and other hazards but will also frequently be in a controlled climate office environment.
