JOB DESCRIPTION: SHELTER ADVOCATE
WORK HOURS: 32-40 hours per week – Schedule to be determined
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
1. Be responsible that the shelter facility meets health and safety guidelines.
2. Maintenance and cleaning of the shelter and office area, in conjunction with other staff.
3. Be available to provide crisis services to residential and non-residential intimate partner violence and sexual assault victims. These services include: telephone coverage, crisis support for residential and non-residential survivors, and 24-hour emergency coverage.
4. Assist in providing children activities.
5. Complete all necessary paperwork and database input.
6. Attend initial staff training, New Service Provider Training, staff meetings, and ongoing regular trainings.
7. Assist all staff with any other duties relative to the efficient operation of the program.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Degree or equivalent/ Bachelors Degree preferred
Salary Range
$16.00-20.00/hour

Must be sensitive to the dynamics of domestic and sexual violence.
Must maintain confidentiality.
Must display a positive attitude and a willingness to provide services with dedication.
Must be able to maintain the mental and physical stability necessary to perform duties effectively.
Must be capable of working and interacting easily with other employees in a team oriented setting.
Must possess the ability to communicate with a range of individuals in a non-judgmental manner with appropriate vocabulary and grammatical skills.
Must be able to work under crisis situations while exhibiting patience, self-discipline and objectivity.
Must be able to perform duties with little supervision and be self motivated.
Must have more than average skills with computers and software.
Must pass all background checks and maintain a valid driver’s license.
