What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Scientist position at Dice?

Entech is hiring a Data Scientist for a Manufacturing client. This is a hybrid role that involves working onsite in Wilmington, DE - 3 days per week.

Qualifications

The Data Scientist will collaborate with clients within the company engaged in a variety of research, development, manufacturing, and business activities.

Continuous improvement in manufacturing
Sales growth and forecasting
Supply chain optimization
Text analytics for competitive analysis
Product testing in field applications

Requirements

A PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related fields

Strong coding skills in R or Python , including data preparation, regression, and plotting

Formal education in statistics, including regression and hypothesis testing

Expertise in machine learning and deep learning techniques in clustering, classification, and neural networks with an emphasis on supervised learning, e.g., random forest, xgboost, lasso, cross-validation, hyperparameter tuning

Develop algorithms and applications for R&D with machine learning and data science tools including data wrangling, clustering, outlier removal, predictive modeling, optimization, and time series modeling

Own data science application development from conceptualization and proof of concept up to the product

Basic competency with SQL database queries and visualization prototyping

Research experience in applying statistics and data science to solve business, engineering, or scientific problems

Self-learning with the intellectual curiosity to keep abreast of advances in the field, grow data science expertise, and refine grasp of internal business operations over time

Effective interpersonal skills for communicating technical concepts to laypersons, collaborating with team members, and confidence presenting data analysis results to internal clients

Good to Have Skills (Not Required, But an Extra Plus If You Have the Experience)

Knowledge of GenAI systems including Agentic and RAG approaches utilizing additional technology such as knowledge graphs and advanced retrieval techniques

We are looking for candidates willing to work directly on our W2. No Corp-to-Corp.
