What are the responsibilities and job description for the Beverage Delivery Driver position at Dichello Distributors?
Hours: Monday – Friday (Saturday TBD) start time 5:00-7:30am
Essential Functions:
- Reports to work as regularly scheduled, is punctual and arrives on time, ready to perform all essential functions of the job.
- Performs all job responsibilities in a timely fashion.
- Assumes responsibility for the delivery truck, hand truck and all other company equipment while in possession of such company property. Reports mishaps or loss of equipment immediately (while on site) to the Operations Manager.
- Adheres to all Department of Transportation requirements, such as submitting to random drug testing when selected and keeping a current medical certificate on file with the company.
- Willing to work long days during summer season which could range up to 12 hours per day if needed.
- Verifies product load and pallet count against load sheet.
- Performs pre-trip inspection on truck. Balances and secures load before leaving premises.
- Safely drives truck to deliver beer, kegs and other malt beverages, including water and wine to customers’ places of business. Calls in refusals .
- Schedules stops, exercising common sense and patience, to accommodate glitches in scheduling.
- Adheres to messages; gives updated times to Operations Manager.
- Maintains sincere interest in the success of each delivery at every account. Listens to and reports service complaints. Treats customer with courtesy and respect even in difficult circumstances.
- Unloads truck at a safe and steady pace, handles a hand-truck, transports product to specified place of storage which may include 34 degree beer storage cooler. Delivery may include navigation of steep staircases, both indoors and out.
- Rotates all Dichello product into existing inventory at each account on each delivery.
- Picks up cases empty bottles and bags of empty cans, picks up damaged or misdelivered product.
- Records count of empties and any refused product on the driver's daily worksheet at each stop.
- Adjusts invoice to reflect credit for empties or refused product.
- Issues or obtains liquor stamp and customer signature on receipt for pickup or delivery.
- Collects money from customers if delivering to a COD account.
Physical Demands:
- Will have the ability to lift full kegs of 160 pounds on a daily basis, on average 10-40 kegs moved on and off the truck each day. Move the same quantity of 40 lb. empty kegs returned with each delivery.
- There are 8 shelves that are utilized on each truck creating, frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 35-pound cases in an overhead repetitive motion. Over-the-shoulder stacking, pulling of cases, bending over stacking product on hand truck. Case load on truck averages 550 cases daily but exceeds this number during summer season.
- Frequently maneuvers heavy loads (excess of 200 lbs.) on a hand truck up and down stairs; consisting of 10-25 steps.
- Spends 15% of time sitting while driving which includes climbing in and out of truck cab.
- Spends remainder 85% of time lifting 35-pound cases and 165-pound kegs, as well as walking behind a hand-truck moving cases & kegs.
- Must have good eyesight and hearing.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintains a clean truck cab and sweeps individual bays of truck daily.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, in order to contribute to the Dichello team effort.

Certificates / Licenses:
Valid CDL (A or B), DOT physical certification
Language Skills: Must be able to effectively converse in English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
