What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Payroll Clerk position at Dick's Auto Group?
This position will have both Payroll and Accounts Payable responsibilities.
Payroll tasks-
- Compiles payroll data such as hours worked; sales bonuses, and commissions; monies to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans; etc., from time sheets and other records.
- Updates master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages such as federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, etc., and data concerning compensation increases, promotions and/or transfer of employees between departments.
- Computes wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy and posts to payroll records.
- Prepares and submits paychecks for processing.
- Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages.
- Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Prepares/files all hiring and termination paperwork.
- Maintains records for PTO eligibility.
- Processes all employee insurance enrollments and insurance payments.
- Understands employee payroll issues, and communicates solutions effectively, professionally, and respectfully.
- Maintains professional appearance and neat work area.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Accounts Payable tasks-
- Comparing system reports to balances and verifying entries.
- Receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices to the DMS (Dealer Management System).
- Charging expenses to accounts and cost centers, as well as controlling petty cash spending.
- Verifying vendor accounts, paying vendors, and resolving purchase order, invoice, or payment discrepancies.
- Reconciling monthly vendor statements to the DMS and issuing payments.
- Monthly manufacturer statement reconciliations.
- Expense tracking and reporting to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Complete-Month end close assigned tasks within deadlines given.
Automotive Payroll Clerk – Qualifications
- Advanced competency in accounting and business management software
- In-depth knowledge of accounts payable and payroll principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
- Extensive experience in account reconciliation.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Great time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.

Knowledge of Excel and Word also required.
