Job Summary / Basic Function The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for providing comprehensive support in key areas such as performance management and employee relations. This includes assisting managers with performance counseling, developing and implementing performance improvement plans, and facilitating conflict resolution to promote a positive work environment. In addition, the position will support areas such as job analysis, compensation management, and benefits administration. The HR Generalist will assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while guiding employees and managers on policy-related issues. This role requires exceptional customer service skills, a strong understanding of HR principles, and the ability to support learning and development initiatives. Outstanding administrative support, fostering a culture of inclusion and responsiveness, and contributing to the overall effectiveness of the HR team and the Dickinson community are essential.
Essential Functions :
- Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns. Facilitate conflict resolution and promote a positive work environment. Conduct investigations and provide recommendations for resolution.
- Assist in developing and implementing performance management activities by supporting managers in preparing, reviewing, and administering performance counseling initiatives as necessary. Provide supervisory coaching and support for complex employee performance management concerns including but not limited to implementation of performance improvement plans.
- Assists in job analysis and the creation of position descriptions including review for placement on the college’s compensation structure. Conduct market research to ensure competitive compensation practices, and support compensation planning and salary administration, as requested.
- Interpret and apply HR policies and procedures. Provide guidance to employees and managers on policy-related issues. Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Support the planning and coordination of training programs, as requested. May assist in the development of learning materials, resources and facilitation of campus programming.
- Provide general support for benefits administration. Assist employees with benefit related questions and issues.
- Provide administrative support to the HR department by assisting with projects and initiatives. Deliver exceptional customer service to employees and managers. Respond promptly to HR-related inquires. Foster a culture of support, inclusion, and responsiveness within the HR team and the Dickinson community.
- Support recruitment and hiring activities by working with hiring managers and search committees. Provide search committee instruction that includes proper use of recruitment tools, non-discriminatory interviewing techniques, assist with candidate salary qualification, and other related recruitment / hiring activities as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree – Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
3-5 Years work experience
Strong knowledge of HR principles and practices, ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience with Human Resource information systems and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. PHR, SHRM-CP certification with experience in a temporary or contract is a plus. A valid Driver's Licence is required. Employees (operators) must have been in possession of a valid operator’s license for not less than three (3) years and the license must have been in good standing without interruption during that time period. No Successful candidate will also be required to complete ACT 153 Clearance No This position is considered "Emergency Staff." As such they may be required to report to work even when the college is closed or is operating under a delayed start.
