POSITION SUMMARY:
- Responsible for supporting and enhancing Advanced Academic programs, including AP courses
- Provide instructional leadership, curriculum development, and professional development to ensure student success in advanced coursework and college-readiness assessments
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and stakeholders to create a rigorous academic environment aligned with district and state standards
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree (preferred)
- Texas Teacher Certification
- AP and/or IB training certification (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of AP course structures, exams, and scoring systems
- Familiarity with College Board policies and requirements
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Technical expertise with data management systems such as Skyward
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and academic data
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Experience designing and implementing professional development for Advanced Academics courses
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including administrators, teachers, students, and parents
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of experience as an Advanced Academics teacher, AP/IB instructor, instructional coach, or school counselor
- Experience in curriculum development and professional learning for Advanced Academics (preferred)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum and Instructional Support:
- Support curriculum development and alignment for Advanced Academics programs
- Assist teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies for AP courses
- Develop and coordinate training for educators on advanced academic instruction and assessment
Student and Family Support:
- Conduct informational meetings and training sessions for students and parents about course planning and college readiness
- Provide guidance to students in course selection and academic planning to support post-secondary success
Professional Development and Collaboration:
- Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities for teachers, administrators, and staff
- Collaborate with special education, 504, and ELL coordinators to ensure proper implementation of student accommodations
- Work with district and campus leaders to increase enrollment in Advanced Academics, particularly among underrepresented student populations
Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze student achievement data and develop strategies for program improvement
- Conduct evaluations, conferences, and training to enhance Advanced Academics programming
- Recommend policies and best practices to strengthen college-readiness initiatives
