POSITION SUMMARY:
- Support the implementation and coordination of PreK-12 programs serving emergent bilingual students
- Work collaboratively with campus staff to ensure high-quality instruction and compliance with state and federal requirements
- Assist in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of bilingual education and ESL programs across the district
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Master’s degree (preferred)
- Valid Texas teaching certification
- Bilingual or ESL Certification (required)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of federal and state laws regarding bilingual education and English learners
- Experience with sheltered instruction and bilingual/ESL methodologies
- Proficient in using technology for student data management and program documentation
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data and provide targeted instructional support
- Knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment for emergent bilingual students
- Effective coaching and presentation skills
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience with bilingual or ESL students
- Experience in providing professional development to teachers
- Experience in program coordination and implementation (preferred)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Program Implementation:
- Support the development and implementation of bilingual education and ESL programs
- Assist in monitoring program effectiveness and student progress
- Collaborate with campus administrators to ensure appropriate instructional support for emergent bilingual students
- Support the implementation of sheltered instruction strategies across content areas
Professional Development:
- Design and deliver professional development on effective instructional strategies for emergent bilingual students
- Provide coaching and support to teachers implementing bilingual and ESL programs
- Train staff on cultural responsiveness and linguistic accommodations
Compliance & Documentation:
- Assist in maintaining compliance with state and federal guidelines for emergent bilingual programs
- Support LPAC processes and documentation across campuses
- Help prepare required reports and documentation for TEA submissions
- Assist in coordinating TELPAS administration and data analysis
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to support district initiatives
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Partner with campus leadership to support program implementation
- Maintain effective communication with parents and community members
Other Responsibilities:
- Stay updated on changes in state and federal policies related to LPAC and English learners
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent of Educational Services and Director of Curriculum and Instruction
