POSITION SUMMARY:
- Responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and management of district-wide support operations, including maintenance, custodial services, food & nutrition services, and transportation departments
- Ensure the efficient delivery of essential services that support student success by maintaining safe, clean, and well-functioning facilities, providing nutritious meals, and ensuring safe transportation for all students
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Master's degree (preferred)
- Valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of operations management principles and best practices
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to school operations
- Expertise in budget development and fiscal management
- Proven ability to interpret data and evaluate program effectiveness
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple departments
- Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in the use of technology and management information systems
- Knowledge of safety regulations and preventive maintenance programs
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in facilities operations management (preferred)
- Experience in public school administration (preferred)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Operations Management:
- Direct and coordinate the daily operations of maintenance, custodial, food & nutrition services, and transportation departments
- Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with district goals to ensure efficient and effective delivery of support services
- Establish and maintain quality standards for all support service departments
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness using data-driven approaches
- Coordinate with architects and contractors during construction and renovation projects
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for facilities and equipment
Personnel Management:
- Supervise, evaluate, and recommend the selection, retention, and dismissal of department directors and key staff
- Provide leadership and professional development opportunities for department personnel
- Establish performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes collaboration and continuous improvement
Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage annual budgets for all supervised departments
- Monitor expenditures and implement cost-effective measures
- Oversee the procurement of supplies, equipment, and services
- Manage contracts with vendors and service providers
Employee Offboarding & Terminations:
- Process voluntary and involuntary terminations, ensuring proper documentation and exit procedures
- Assist in conducting final payroll processing, including benefits termination and payout of any accrued leave
- Provide guidance to departing employees on return of district property
Communication and Community Relations:
- Serve as liaison between support services departments and district administration
- Maintain effective communication with staff, parents, and community members
- Prepare and present reports to the School Board regarding support services operations
- Respond to and resolve concerns from staff, parents, and community members
Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Develop and implement department policies and procedures
- Maintain accurate records and prepare required reports
- Stay current with changes in laws and regulations affecting school operations
