POSITION SUMMARY:
- Provide leadership and support in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the district's comprehensive K-8 mathematics program
- Ensure effective math instruction, assessment, and intervention practices across all grade levels
- Support teachers and campus administrators in building strong mathematical foundations for all students
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Master’s degree in education, mathematics, or related field
- Valid Texas teaching certification
- Mathematics Specialist certification (preferred)
- Experience in instructional coaching or leadership (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong knowledge of research-based mathematics instruction and best practices
- Understanding of mathematical frameworks, intervention strategies, and differentiated instruction
- Experience with math assessment tools and data analysis
- Knowledge of state mathematics standards and requirements
- Familiarity with Research-Based Instructional Practices (RBIS)
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with district staff, principals, teachers, and parents
- Effective coaching and presentation skills
- Proficiency in developing and delivering professional development
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience with an emphasis in mathematics instruction
- Experience in instructional coaching or teacher mentoring (preferred)
- Experience in curriculum development and implementation
- Background in Math Intervention programs
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Program Leadership:
- Support the implementation of a comprehensive K-8 math curriculum
- Assist in the development and revision of district math curriculum
- Coordinate vertical alignment of math instruction across grade levels
- Monitor the effectiveness of math programs and interventions
- Collaborate with campus administrators to support math initiatives
- Assist in the selection and implementation of instructional materials
- Ensure the mathematics RBIS are fully integrated and implemented in our entire instructional framework and classroom practices
Professional Development:
- Design and deliver professional development in mathematics instruction
- Provide coaching and modeling of effective math teaching practices
- Support teachers in implementing problem-solving and numeracy strategies across content areas
- Train staff on math assessment tools and data analysis
- Facilitate professional learning communities focused on mathematics
Assessment & Data Analysis:
- Support the implementation of math assessments
- Analyze student math data to guide instructional decisions
- Help teachers use data to inform instruction and intervention
- Monitor student progress in mathematics development
- Assist in program evaluation and improvement planning
Intervention Support:
- Coordinate mathematics intervention programs
- Support the implementation of differentiated math instruction
- Assist in identifying students who need math interventions
- Guide teachers in strategies to support struggling math learners
- Collaborate with special programs to support diverse learners
Program Management:
- Assist in managing math resources and materials
- Maintain documentation of mathematics initiatives
- Support accurate reporting for math programs
- Develop math support materials for teachers
- Foster parent and community engagement in mathematics
- Coordinate math-related events and initiatives
