Position Summary
- Serve as a district-level administrator responsible for overseeing student attendance initiatives
- Manage the residency verification processes
- Ensure compliance with compulsory attendance laws
- Work collaboratively with campus administrators, district leadership, and families to implement effective attendance intervention strategies
- Maintain accurate residency documentation
Education/Certification
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, or related field
- Master's degree (preferred)
- Valid Texas teaching or administrative certification (preferred)
- Minimum of five years' experience in education or related field
- Bilingual in Spanish: written/spoken (preferred)
- Comprehensive knowledge of Texas Education Code and compulsory attendance laws
- Strong analytical and investigative skills for residency verification
- Excellent organizational and data management abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting software
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Minimum of 3 years campus administrator experience (preferred)
Monitor Student Attendance
- Conduct attendance meetings every three weeks at all campuses to analyze student attendance data
- Identify and track chronic absenteeism patterns
- Investigate truancy cases
- Coordinate Student Intervention Team (SIT) plans for at-risk students
- Schedule and attend Student Intervention Team (SIT) meetings for at-risk students
- Monitor implementation of attendance intervention plans
- Monitor attendance to assist campuses in achieving at least 95% ADA
- Conduct home visits as needed for chronically absent students
- Oversee district-wide residency verification process
- Investigate and verify all submitted affidavits
- Maintain accurate documentation of residency verification
- Implement procedures to prevent residency fraud
- Report directly to and collaborate regularly with the Director of Data Quality and Student Information Systems regarding attendance data
- Consistently communicate with the Assistant Superintendent for Administration or Director of Data Quality and Student Information Systems regarding affidavit procedures and attendance concerns
- Coordinate with campus attendance liaisons to implement intervention strategies
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of attendance improvement initiatives
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for attendance tracking
- Provide professional development to campus staff regarding truancy procedures
- Prepare regular reports for school administrators or school boards on truancy trends, issues, and solutions
- Follow up with families, students, and school personnel to ensure that intervention strategies are being implemented effectively
- Adjust intervention plans as needed based on student progress or changes in circumstances
- Ensure district compliance with state attendance laws
- Collaborate with each campus to coordinate and file truancy paperwork according to court timeline
- Collaborate with local law enforcement or the juvenile court system when legal intervention is required
- Participate in truancy hearings or meetings with judges, attorneys, or school district officials to discuss cases of chronic truancy
- Maintain thorough records of investigations, home visits, communications, and interventions
- Prepare reports or evidence for legal proceedings if a student's truancy case requires court intervention
- Ensure that all documentation related to truancy investigations are entered into Skyward
