Dickinson Parks & Recreation is seeking motivated candidates for the position of Facility Maintenance Specialist at the West River Community Center. This position is full-time with the full benefits package of the Park District. Position will start at a base salary of $22.26/hour.
All full-time employees will receive a FREE membership to the West River Community Center and Heart River Golf Course along with FREE program usage for the employee and immediate family members.

This position is responsible for assisting the Facility Maintenance Supervisor-WRCC in the maintenance of Dickinson Parks and Recreation facilities including the West River Community Center, Outdoor Pool, West River Ice Center, Veteran’s Pavilion, Heart River Retreat and associated areas. For the right candidate, DPR will train on all necessary components of the position including principles of aquatic maintenance, equipment operation, and fitness equipment maintenance, etc.
Essential Functions

- Participates in daily activities related to the maintenance of DPR facilities.
- Assists in training and supervising part-time and seasonal facility maintenance staff.
- Operates a variety of facility maintenance equipment such as: sweepers, bobcats, toolcats, forklifts and scissor lifts in a safe manner.
- Performs equipment repair and maintenance.
- Performs pool maintenance, which includes routinely checking pumps, filters, chemical feeders, valves, water chemistry and chemicals.
- Performs landscape maintenance functions.
- Assists in the preparation of the ice center for the installation and removal of ice.
- Maintains buildings and facilities in a clean, safe and sanitary manner including a variety of general custodial duties.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions in accordance with facility maintenance standards.
- Communicates effectively with coworkers and maintains positive working relationship with other employees, agencies, and the public.
- Represents Dickinson Parks and Recreation in a positive manner.
- Attends regular department/committee meetings and performs related work as required.
Qualifications
- One year of experience in facility maintenance; or an equivalent combination of training, experience, and education that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Current certification in CPO, CPR/First Aid/AED; or ability to obtain certifications within 12 months of employment.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Classified as a Full-Time Fully Benefited position. Standard days/hours of work are Monday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday – Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Occasional special event, evening, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. The position will require a rotation of weekend calls with the schedule determined by the Facility Maintenance Supervisor – WRCC. Receives the full amount of defined DPR benefits described under the Benefits section of the Personnel Policy Manual.
