DICKINSON STATE UNIVERSITY (DSU) is a regional comprehensive institution within the North Dakota University System, whose primary role is to contribute to intellectual, social, economic, and cultural development, especially to Southwestern North Dakota. DSU is seeking to hire an Athletic Training Program Director. The Program Director oversees the curriculum, course scheduling, and faculty development as it pertains to special licensure and accreditation in the field of athletic training. This position would also teach a variety of courses in athletic training per program requirements, and requires willingness to teach online and/or hybrid courses, in addition to traditional face-to-face teaching modality. The faculty member will work collaboratively in a School that serves a number of majors and minors and serves as an integral part of the general education curriculum for all programs on campus. Additional responsibilities include quality academic advising service to students, participation in school and University committees, and service to the campus and larger community.
The School of Professional Studies at Dickinson State University facilitates education in the areas of Health, Exercise Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Nursing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Doctorate degree in Athletic Training or related field
- All academic degrees from accredited institutions
- Current Athletic Trainer Certified through Board of Certification
- Current National Provider Identifier (NPI) number
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification
- Athletic Trainer Certification and State License must be in good standing
- Demonstrated experience with CAATE accreditation processes
- Demonstrated contemporary expertise in athletic training
- Demonstrated clinical practice in Athletic Training
- Demonstrated scholarship in the field of Athletic Training
- Previous full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities
- Good organizational skills
- Flexibility
- Strong work ethic
- Excellent interpersonal/oral/written communication skills
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
- Experience with assessment at course, program, and university levels
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Academic Leadership- Accreditation and Assessment
- Update necessary reporting and assessment to fall within the guidelines of CAATE.
- Finalize self-study reporting to the appropriate CAATE accreditors.
- Oversite and execution of MSAT program accreditation and site visits from CAATE.
- Uphold accreditation by CAATE for the MSAT.
- Exploration of programming expansion under CAATE standards (dual mission or remote access).
- Lead program faculty through accreditation processes.
- Provide training to potential successors in required accreditation and assessment procedures for the MSAT program.
- Faculty Development
- Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse and highly qualified faculty and staff.
- Set rigorous goals for direct reports and conduct annual reviews that result in improved performance by MSAT faculty.
- Promote faculty research, scholarship, and professional development opportunities.
- Conduct regular, rigorous performance evaluations, mentoring, and support for faculty.
- Promote diversity and inclusion initiatives within the MSAT, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
- Integrate MSAT faculty as members of the School of Professional Studies.
- Administrative Oversight
- Work in collaboration with the Dean of SoPS for the scheduling of courses and clinical experiences to optimize program delivery and meet accreditation standards.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulations relevant to the MSAT program.
- Develop, monitor, and achieve or surpass recruiting, retention, and graduation goals for the MSAT program as they align with the School of Professional Studies’ and institution's objectives.
- Support efforts to recruit and retain a diverse and robust student body.
- Faculty/Teaching
- Teach assigned course load (18 credits per year).
- Make appropriate preparations for the semester, including syllabus preparation, preparation of lecture and/or studio materials, preparation of tests and assignments as needed/appropriate, revise course materials when needed, and provide measurable objectives for student performance.
- Communicate effectively with students.
- Evaluate and select course materials for classroom activities (remote and/or face-to-face).
- Engage in professional reading and/or research for self-improvement and effectiveness.
- Engage in appropriate professional development activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- Salary of $70,000-75,000/annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience
