DSU is seeking a Financial Services Technician. This position will provide assistance and/or information to students regarding financial aid and student accounts receivable questions. Provide customers with quality customer service while accurately verifying and processing accounts receivable payments and departmental deposits; balancing teller drawer daily; answering departmental phones; data entry; and performing other various departmental duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Associate degree or higher in office administration, business, or related;
- Two (2) years of directly related work experience will be considered in replacement of a degree
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge and experience using computers and application software (word processing, spreadsheets, and database management).
- Skills working with printers, copy machines, and fax machines
- Good interpersonal communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- One year of office experience
- Experience in Higher Education
DELIVERABLES & OUTCOMES:
- Front Desk Support for Financial Aid and Student Accounts Receivable services;
- Enter data into the HCM database related to the hiring of employees (i.e., demographic, benefits, Greet students, faculty, staff, administrators, and/or constituents.
- Answer questions and/or direct them to appropriate individual(s).
- Answer financial aid incoming lines. Attempt to answer questions; when unable, relay information or transfer calls to appropriate Individual(s).
- Provide support and coordinate administrative duties for financial aid and student accounts receivable related issues.
- Assist with routing forms to proper offices for timely processing.
- Properly utilize necessary software (Blackboard, Campus Connection, Imaging Software, Legacy System, National Student Clearinghouse, Perceptive Content), training students on the use, when appropriate.
- Create and provide help sheets/guides for students if they want to complete the process/procedure on their own, when applicable.
- Maintaining FAQ's and provide feedback to the supervisor if a pattern is observed, provide possible solutions if issues are discovered, and do their best to make the experience great for the student/faculty/staff/administrator and/or constituent.
- Assist students and community members by answering questions and/or connecting them with appropriate offices on campus.

- Financial Aid Support
- Assist students/families with completing Financial Aid forms.
- Assist students with accepting/declining aid, and properly completing the Master Promissory Note (MPN)/loan counseling.
- Assist financial aid with FAFSA comment codes, including contacting students to communicate about checklist items.
- Monitor, respond, and/or filter incoming emails to the DSU.FinancialAid@dickinsonstate.edu email account.
- Monitor, respond, and/or filter the incoming text messaging to the DSU Financial Aid shared inbox.
- Participate in training to learn more about federal financial aid in order to be able to help students and families with questions.
- Assist with electronic record filing, using perceptive content.
- Student Accounts Receivable Support
- Assist students/families with student accounts receivable questions.
- Collaborate with the NDSU Student Accounts Receivable Department to facilitate efficient processes.
- Mail statements.
- Perform cashiering functions including the receiving of checks and other forms of payment on student accounts. This duty includes the preparing of the daily deposit slips.
- Assist with any State and Federal reporting requirements.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
- $40,000-45,000/annually, commensurate with qualifications and experience
