What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant - Receptionist position at Dickson Frohlich Phillips Burgess PLLC?
We are a mid-sized law firm looking for an experienced, reliable office professional to join our team full-time. This is a position that has significant impact in providing exceptional support for our legal teams, customer service to our clients, and in helping the office run smoothly.
The position is anticipated to be approximately 70% legal assisting and 30% reception oriented. Duties will include typing business letters and emails, proof reading, formatting, and e-filing legal documents, copying, scanning and faxing, electronic file management, calendar management and scheduling in Outlook, processing incoming and outgoing mail including the use of the postage meter, office supply inventory and order submissions, coordination of facility needs, assisting visitors, coordinating with vendors, receiving deliveries, conference room set up and clean up, facilitating office lunches, cross-training for answering phone calls, and other duties as assigned.
Key Competencies:
- At least 2 years of experience working in a law firm or similar setting.
- Attention to detail. (We cannot overstate how important this is!)
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- High skill level working within MS Office-particularly Word and Outlook; Some Excel experience required.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Professional in appearance and demeanor.
- Punctual and reliable attendance record.
- Must be comfortable in a support role, receiving delegation, working independently, and completing tasks in a timely manner.
- Must work well with others and contribute to a positive, collegial work environment.
Physical Requirements:
This is primarily a seated position working at a desk. Repetitive actions like using a mouse and keyboard, looking at computer monitors and answering the phone, will be daily components of the work. The ability to answer phones, hear callers and communicate with them, is a primary duty of the position. Must have the physical ability and agility to fully perform the duties of the position including walking, bending, safely lifting 30-40 pounds while putting away office supply orders and other deliveries, (usually cases of copy paper and soda) and using a step stool in order to reach top shelves.
This is an in-person position at our Seattle office located at 1420 5th Ave, Suite 2000, in the U.S. Bank Center building. Due to the nature of the job duties, this position does not lend itself to remote work except temporarily, during times of inclement weather or government closures when remote work may be authorized.
