Description

The didgwálic Wellness Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our integrated care clinic that combines primary care, behavioral health, and opiate treatment all in place. In this position you will provide a variety of technical, administrative, and patient care services under the supervision of the Clinical Nursing Manager. More Specifically you will interview patients, assist in examination and treatment, draw and collect blood samples, and support urinalysis screening of patients from time to time. This position will be based in our Anacortes, Washington clinic.

What you’ll do:

  • Verify and correct patient information by interviewing the patient and recording their medical history.
  • Take vital signs including weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart in EHR.
  • Assist in examination and treatment of patients, performing miscellaneous delegated duties under the direction of the provider.
  • Maintain, clean and prepare examination rooms.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
  • Operate electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests or coordinate referrals to schedule patients for additional testing as necessary.
  • Give injections or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests. Performs screening tests and reports results. Dresses wounds and incisions.
  • Obtain authorizations for medications as needed.
  • Routinely draw blood from patients and prepare specimens for screening, analysis, or other medical purposes.
  • Observe collection of urine samples from clients of the same gender in accordance with established procedures for substance abuse testing protocol.
  • Adhere to chain of custody in handling collection, samples, and information to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain records electronically and in patient Electronic Health Record of blood, urine, and/or other test submissions. Updates client data as necessary to ensure accuracy.
  • Complete and file all requisite paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely fashion.

Qualifications


Must Have's:

  • Be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA0 in good standing with the State of Washington. 
  • 3 years of experience as an MA, with strong phlebotomy experience. 
  • Have a Washington State Driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements for tribal insurance. 
  • Knowledge of the current medical practices in primary care, mental health and addiction medicine. 
  • Knowledge of substance use disorder and its effects on individuals, families, and communities.  
  • In-depth knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) & health-related applications. 
  • Strong computer and MS Office suite experience.  
  • Ability to work in a cross-culture environment.  
  • Understand state- RCW, WAC, and federal confidentiality regulations- 42 CFR part 2.  
  • Be able to communicate effectively with patients, their families.  
  • A conviction that substance use disorder is a treatable illness and constitutes a public health problem. 
  • Previous substance abuse treatment and/or primary care experience strongly preferred. 
  • Ability to pass extensive criminal background check; pre-employment drug screen; and reference check.
  • Tribal Affiliation a plus!
