We have an excellent opportunity for a Medical Environmental Custodian to join our team In this position, youll be responsible for providing a safe and quality environment for all employees, patients, and visitors by conducting industrial grade sanitization of all surfaces using OSHA approved disinfectants, equipment, and supplies. What You'll Do
- Collects refuse, bio-medical waste, recycling, confidential papers, etc., and disposes them according to Wellness Center safety policies and DOT regulations.
- Cleans patient, staff, and common areas using the appropriate cleaning solutions and the established 7 step cleaning procedures and protocols:
- High dust all flat surfaces over 6 ft. using high dusting tool and head, or ladder as needed.
- Empty all trash receptacles and wipe inside and outside with germicide solutions and reline receptacles, transport medical waste to waste holding area.
- Damp wipe/spot clean all surfaces and furnishings under 6 ft. and spot wipe walls and partitions as needed.
- Dry mop all floors using dust mop frame and treated head to include under and behind all furnishings.
- Damp mops all rooms to include under and behind all furnishings.
- Bathroom cleaning to include wiping all surfaces, shelves, sinks, showers, and toilets.
- Inspect the area to ensure that all steps have been completed and the area looks neat and clean.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of all chemical usage and dilutions, ensuring full compliance with federal and state safety regulations. Maintains all MSDS documentation as required.
- Adheres to OSHA regulations by wearing personal protective equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.).
- Maintains safe working environment following all OSHA and WISHA regulations.
- Moves furniture and equipment for cleaning, re-arranging as necessary.
- Assists with the setup and the cleanup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Removes trash and debris, transports trash and debris properly protected.
- Conducts routine surveillance of the interior building spaces and takes appropriate action to prevent violation of didgwli Wellness Center safety policies.
- Notifies Facilities Director concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
What Were Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience performing environmental services in medical facility preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to safely operate electric and battery powered cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, burnishes, scrubbers, and extractors.
- Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Understand and complies with WA State DOH guidelines and codes.
- Ability to work independently and be organized, flexible, and adaptable to high and low workloads.
- Detail-oriented and thorough.
- Ability to work in a cross-culture environment.
- Ability to adhere to state (RCW, WAC) and federal confidentiality regulations (HIPAA and 42 CFR part 2).
- Effective communication; written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer and software experience using MS Office products.
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, or crawl in awkward spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
