This is a hybrid position based in Century City, CA. Candidates must be based in Southern California and available to be on-site and travel as needed. 

The pay range for this role is $71,494 - $82,219 annually.

Summary

As a Curriculum Design and Development Manager, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting the development of educational content and training programs for the Suicide Prevention Center. Under the guidance of the program director, you will oversee all aspects of curriculum design and ensure consistency and quality across internal staff training and community outreach programs.

 

Primary Duties

  • Develop engaging and accessible live and on-demand suicide prevention courses tailored for varied audiences, including educators, healthcare providers, first responders, and community members.
  • Enhance and expand existing courses and training materials, incorporating interactive learning methods, multimedia, and scenario-based training.
  • Ensure that all training content aligns with state and national best practices, including 988 Lifeline, and other suicide prevention guidelines.
  • Utilize instructional design principles to create learning experiences that improve knowledge retention and skill application.
  • Regularly assess and update training materials to reflect the latest research, trends, and best practices in suicide prevention and crisis intervention and collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, and lived-experience advocates to develop culturally responsive and inclusive content.
  • Work with the agency’s Research & Evaluation and Quality Improvement teams to evaluate course effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, and data analysis, making improvements as needed.
  • Work closely with the Suicide Prevention Center’s training teams to integrate curriculum into crisis line and broader outreach and education efforts, and provide support for trainers delivering workshops, ensuring consistency and quality in delivery.
  • Write, design and implement instructional content and interactive learning modules, webinars, and blended learning solutions.
  • Work with IT and multimedia teams to develop engaging digital content, including videos, animations, and case-based learning scenarios; ensure accessibility and usability of online courses across various platforms and devices.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing & Communications department to produce high-value video presentations.
  • Where appropriate, may serve as primary speaker/trainer (or voice over) for the training modules.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Certificate in Instructional Design, Education, Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or training program development.
  • Strong understanding of suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and mental health education best practices and ability to stay up-to-date with new research and evidence based best practices.
  • Familiarity with culturally responsive, equity-focused, and trauma-informed instructional approaches.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging, evidence-based, and learner-centered training materials.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and behavior change methodologies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced skills to present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective collaboration and relationship building skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with crisis call centers, or mental health crisis response programs.
  • Experience designing online learning content using LMS platforms, e-learning authoring tools, and multimedia integration.
