We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Manager to join our team.
Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and optimization of all machinery, equipment, and facilities. This includes managing a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring all mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems are fully operational, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The role is critical for maintaining operational efficiency and minimizing downtime in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, lead, train and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and staff.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Delegate tasks, prioritize repair orders, and ensure completion of maintenance activities in a timely and safe manner.
Equipment & Machinery Maintenance:
- Oversee the preventative maintenance and repairs of all equipment, including choppers, balers, shears, cranes, conveyors, forklifts, skid steerers and other heavy machinery.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery and facilities to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Coordinate with outside contractors or service providers for specialized repairs when needed.
Inventory & Supplies Management:
- Maintain adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for repairs and maintenance.
- Source and procure parts, materials, and services in coordination with the purchasing department.
Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental policies and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits, identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Promote a safety-first culture through regular training, audits, and reporting.
Cost Control & Efficiency:
- Monitor and control maintenance costs while optimizing operational efficiency.
- Implement energy-saving measures and maintenance strategies to reduce equipment downtime and extend the life of machinery.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- A technical certification in mechanical or electrical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager, preferably in a scrap yard, recycling facility, or heavy industry setting.
- Strong technical knowledge of machinery, equipment and electrical systems (hydraulics, pneumatic systems, conveyors, etc.).
- Leadership experience and ability to manage and motivate a team is imperative.
- Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in industrial settings.
- Basic computer skills for managing team, record-keeping and inventory management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications and vocational training highly preferred.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and handle outdoor work conditions.
