The Meatcutter Journeyman works as part of a team to provide the best customer service and highest product quality possible. Cut a variety of meats according to company policy, and fulfill other job responsibilities:
Prepare all merchandise and cuts of meat, including blocking outside of beef
Weigh, price, cut and slice any meat
Order and receive merchandise; break down loads and transfer to carts
Serve trade, grind meat, cube steaks, and patty steaks
Use all tools, including power tools (saws, hand or power), grinder, cubing machine, patty machine, sealer, barbecue equipment, wrapper machine, conveyor, etc.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards of all equipment and department
May perform work in the Service Meat Department
Promote products and utilize suggestive selling techniques to satisfy the customers' needs
Process customer orders accurately by clarifying and checking for understanding
Examine, stock, and rotate meats according to sell by date
Cut, trim, and weigh meats for production and customer requests
Work in varied temperature-controlled environments (refrigerator and freezer)
Keep work area sanitary by using company approved cleaners and equipment
Follow safe food handling guidelines according to S.A.F.E. program standards
Essentials
At least 18 years of age
Must be a skilled meat cutter or completed a meat cutter apprenticeship
Read basic information (ex: equipment operating manuals, product names and codes, and reference guides)
Basic computer, weights/measures understanding and math skills (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversions, and percentages)
Listen and communicate from verbal to written instructions
Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays
Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule
Adherence to our dress code, appearance and personal hygiene standards
Associates in food handling departments are required to receive a Hepatitis A vaccination (MO only)
Physical Requirements
Lifting & Carrying - average of 30 lbs., up to 90 lbs
Pushing & Pulling - 6-wheel stock carts with loads weighing up to 250 lbs.
Occasional - Sit, kneel, stoop, squat, climb, overhead reach & power grip
Frequent - Stand, walk, head turn, side reach, grasp, pinch, finger manipulation & feel
Constant - Handling & forward reach
