The Executive Creative Director is responsible for ensuring that all Agency work is on strategy and meets or exceeds the highest level of creative accomplishment. The Executive Creative Director contributes to growing the Clients' business. The Executive Creative Director also helps identify and recruit new talent as well as provides leadership and guidance within their department.
Creative Management
Provides overall direction for creative team on communication development
Works with other Directors to ensure effective and efficient teamwork and collaboration throughout agency
Review concepts, copy and visuals, presentations prepared by creative team
Attends business reviews from Acct Mgmt on assigned accounts
Firmly uphold and upgrade the agency's creative standards in a spirit of cooperation with agency associates.
Strategy / Idea Generation / Communication Development
Passionate about bringing forth ideas; creating advertising
Think conceptually, and executionally
Participates in internal acct mgmt. briefing sessions, reviews creative brief & relevant background info on team’s assigned projects
Attends product orientations, pre planning sessions, brands reviews on assigned accounts to stay abreast of brand equity, competitive claims, category conventions, etc.
Participate in concept review session involving account and creative teams
Review and advises creative staff on communication development
Evaluate copy and layouts, with close attention to strategic accuracy
Leads brainstorming / ideation sessions to engage in creative problem solving
Participates in acct mgmt driven ideation sessions w / clients to engage in creative problem solving
Production
Partners with print producer in production of printed materials to assure continuing creative excellence and accuracy.
Ensures copywriters have proofread type, mechanicals, and proofs
Partners with broadcast producer in production of broadcast materials. This includes participation in pre prep meetings, preproduction meetings; casting; rewriting copy for ease of delivery or time restrictions; assisting at the production session with primary responsibility for judgment of spoken interpretations by talent. Also, viewing of dailies, attending editing sessions, recording sessions, music recordings and mixing sessions. Attend final screenings to ensure the quality and accuracy of the finished product.
Keeps GCD apprised regarding status on creative development, production
Client Relations
Builds strong senior level partnership relationships at the Client director level
Works with other Directors on key client opportunities, strategies and responses to key nuances which may affect the health of the business
Counsels regularly with Account team to discuss opportunities and potential issues that may impact the client relationship
Display expertise in client’s business / category
Presents concepts, copy and visuals to clients
Training & Staff Development
Responsible for teaching creative staff how to think critically, see creatively & take risks
Provides hands-on training in areas of strategic thinking, ideation and skills in presenting / selling ideas, concepts, ads
Creates learning environment to encourage staff to try out new ideas, approaches
Gives staff consistent feedback relative to skill sets and on the job performance
Makes creative staff recommendations to GCD on hiring, promotions, salary adjustments, bonuses and dismissals based on performance
Ensures employee evaluation processes are completed properly & on time
Participates in new business activity as directed by GCD
Leadership Skills
Establishes leadership role in key business initiatives on assigned accounts
Provides individual team member stretch goals to enhance career development
Helps team members assess improvement areas and receive training opportunities and resources as warranted
Responsible for maintaining talent retention and knowledge management
Models team collaborative behavior with other agency departments
Requirements
Multicultural Experience is required
Pharmaceutical / RX experience w / knowledge of MLR & Veeva processes is required
Extreme attention to detail keeping in mind health, wellness, and pharma design protocols
Exceptional organizational skills
