Assistant Dietary Manager

Job Summary
The Dietary Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the dietary department within a healthcare facility. This position is responsible for ensuring that all nutritional needs of patients are met through effective management of dietary services. The Dietary Manager will collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop care plans, conduct patient assessments, and implement tube feeding protocols as necessary. A strong background in dietetics and physiology is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the dietary department, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Conduct patient assessments to determine individual dietary needs and preferences.
• Develop and implement care plans that align with nutritional guidelines and patient health goals.
• Oversee tube feeding procedures and ensure proper administration according to patient requirements.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide health coaching and dietary education to patients and staff.
• Monitor budgetary constraints while maintaining high standards of food quality and service.
• Ensure accurate documentation of dietary services, including meal plans and patient progress reports.
• Train and supervise dietary staff, fostering a collaborative team environment focused on patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience in dietary management within a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of physiology and nutrition principles as they relate to patient care.
• Familiarity with budgeting processes and cost management in a dietary context.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Ability to assess patient needs accurately and develop appropriate dietary interventions.
• Certification as a Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a plus but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.44 - $19.24 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
