Position Summary
This position is responsible for producing and decorating cakes and like items from start to finish in a fast, efficient manner both for display, and special orders. Cake decorating skills and talents are essential to create an atmosphere of excitement and guest confidence.
Job Duties
- Helps to manage and maintain a clean and safe environment to work and shop.
- Effective communication with team members and supervisors to build and maintain morale.
- Knowledge of company policies, programs, and procedures.
- Promote a harassment-free work and shopping environment, and immediately reports any potential harmful situation.
- Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department.
- Proper product handling, case cutting, price marking, rotation, facing, and display of merchandise.
- Follow through and achieve all company policies, programs, and directives.
- Be a team player and able to do the jobs/tasks asked by others.
- Maintain quality standards within the department and store.
- Assist guests to help improve their shopping experience.
- Completes tasks efficiently and in a timely manner
- Maintain effective inventory control through proper ordering while minimizing food waste.

- Perform bakery functions such as preparing, frying, and finishing one or more bakery items at a time as directed, according to standard formulas and procedures.
- Maintains decorating skills and talents and keeping up with current trends.
- Responsible for the complete processing of larger tier cake orders, including taking orders, producing the cakes, and ensuring the final accounting of accessories for which a deposit can be refunded.
- Maintains an adequate inventory of all novelties and supplies necessary for cake decoration. Assist in the receiving and storing of bakery products.
- Capable of producing other bakery items as directed by the Bakery Manager.
Experience: Previous baking and cake decorating experience required.
Minimum Age: 18 years or older
Equipment use: Oven, Slicer, Fryer, Wrapping Machine, Bread Molding Machine, Scales, Box Cutter, Garbage Compactor, Cardboard Baler, etc.
Physical Abilities: Regularly required to walk, sit, stand, sit, twist and bend; hands to fingers to handle and feel: repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip, and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel, or crawl. Use of step stool and ladder. Lifting 30 pounds and may include floor to shoulder and overhead
Communication: Ability to write, speak, hear, and/or understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to team members and guests’ needs. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
Education: Food Handler’s Permit required.
