Pipe Layer
Independence Excavating is looking to add Pipe Layers to our Western Pennsylvania and Virginia field location projects. The Pipe Layer is responsible for laying pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. In addition to laying pipe, the pipe layer also works with laborers to dig trenches for / around existing utilities.
Our pipe layers will also perform any combination of the following tasks : grade trenches or culverts, position pipe, or seal joints.

A typical day looks like :
- Working in a team structured fast paced environment
- Understanding and abiding to job specific safety requirements
- Setting up CAZ zones (fencing)
- Checking grade and working around heavy equipment.
- Working in trench boxes and confined spaces
- Pouring concrete and using a concrete vibrator
- Coordinating / working hand in hand with other trades
