Professional Construction Engineer
Independence Excavating is looking to hire an ambitious and collaborative Professional Construction Engineer to join our heavy civil team! In this role, the construction engineer will design, engineer, develop and manage all aspects of construction engineering needs at IX. This position will be the stepping stone for an opportunity to grow into a lead engineer role.

A typical day looks like:
- Providing construction engineering designs & supporting calculations for the development of temporary cofferdams, excavation bracing systems, shoring, & earth retention structures, to facilitate deep excavations and utility support
- Developing structure demolition plans, procedures & work-plans to safely dismantle planned structure demolitions. Evaluate temporary dewatering schemes to facilitate excavations
- Developing lift & rigging plans. Provide concrete form-work design. Signs plans or engineering documents as registered professional engineer
- Being intimately familiar with applicable OSHA standards for excavation and trenching
- Developing critical work plans and procedures for the project to be completed safely and on time and implement the plans in the field
- Supporting project management team with project development and administration tasks
- Supporting activities of resident engineers and architects when applicable
- Other duties or projects as needed
Do you have what it takes?
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Possess a Professional Civil Engineer License
- 5 years experience in engineering, architecture, or construction
- Verifiable heavy civil construction related design work
