What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Care Technician/ Check Out position at Digestive Care Center?
Digestive Care Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician in our Jasper Endoscopy Center. The Patient Care Technician assists with admission and recovery of patients. They are responsible for stocking supplies, assistance with procedure room turnaround and terminal room clean. They also have a detailed understanding of appointment scheduling, ancillary scheduling, patient records and customer service. Provides knowledgeable and efficient scheduling and chart preparation for incoming patients in the JESC.
What You Need for this Position:
- High school Diploma or equivalent required.
- BLS Certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Maintains BLS Certification.
- Medical office experience preferred.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Pre-registers patients for the following day.
- Processes payments if needed.
- Verifies patient demographics and eligibility of insurance.
- Obtains appropriate consents.
- Perform real time chart audits.
- Scan in chart documents.
- Schedules appointments ordered by physician’s post procedure.
- Completes the referral process.
- Transmits records internally.
- Checks pathology results.
- Stocks linen cabinets, blanket warmers and bathrooms.
- Empties linen hampers and replaces linen bag.
- Ensures that specimens are correctly labeled according to pathology requisition and accurately fills out pathology sheet. Gives any incorrect specimens to check-out clerk.
- Assists with turning and cleaning procedure rooms or bay rooms.
- Assists with call backs.
- Stocks bedside carts.
- Wipes down monitors, cords, and blood pressure cuffs.
- Places a bed in each admission bay.
- Initials end-of-day checklists for admission/recovery bays.
- Assists with terminal clean and stocking of procedure room.
- Assists with shutting down bay rooms or autoclave room.
- Brings down stock from upstairs supply room to refill supply closet.
