Position Overview:
The Import Trade Compliance Specialist-Tariffs is primarily responsible for coordinating & executing import compliance work required under Federal, State, Local and global laws. The Import Specialist will assist a variety of business areas in preparing necessary documentation and processes related to the monitorship and compliance generally; will prepare and maintain compliance reports related to import issues; will proactively identify and mitigate import compliance risks and exposures throughout DigiKey; will review and familiarize themselves with all tariff related processes and initiatives at DigiKey, identifying areas of potential investigation and improvement; work closely with Trade Compliance, Logistics, and Purchasing to identify opportunities for improved tariff recovery; work with Returns and Purchasing teams to ensure returned/scrapped tariff product is filed for drawback ; help create and then meet tariff recovery KPIs through continued assessment of internal processes; Development long-term tariff plan for potential changes in government policy.This is not exclusively an essential onsite role, though may require some onsite attendance.
Responsibilities:
- Pre-entry verification of shipments into the FTZ
- Assist with zone to zone transfers (TRF to Fargo, Fargo to TRF)
- Assist with Entry paperwork for consumption entries
- Assist with gathering information for auditing and reporting functions completed by Import Trade Compliance Manager
- Audit for accuracy of part record details prior to FTZ activation
- Spot checks of part record accuracy (C of O, quantity, etc.)
- Assisting with information gathering for drawback claims
- Review and familiarize themselves with all tariff related processes and initiatives at DigiKey
- Identify areas and opportunities of potential Tariff Recovery
- Assist in identifying drawback opportunities and ensure claims are being filed.
- Assist in defining KPIs around Tariff Recovery
- Assist in defining and developing plans around changes in Tariff Circumstances
- Promote and facilitate projects for Tariff Recovery
- Develop interdepartmental partnerships to improve understanding and implementation of tariff procedures.
- Taking on additional responsibilities from Senior TC Specialist or Trade Compliance Manager
- Attends meetings, conferences and/or seminars; gains outside DigiKey perspective and best practices
- SME in all things Tariff Related
- Other duties as assigned including but not limited to possible reallocation of efforts to other organizations per business need and management request.
Additional Work Experience:
- Candidate has a strong understanding of the various functions of DigiKey, how they work together as well as the industry DigiKey operates in
- Candidate has strong knowledge of DigiKey brand and its principles
- Must be well versed in Import compliance
- SQL Familiarity (Preferred)
- Previous Logistics and Tariff Experience (Preferred)
Education:
- High School or GED (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in either International Business, Business Administration, Economics, or similar area of study. (Preferred)

- ACE
- FTZ management software
- FileNet, Broker/Carrier Portals
- WinDECS
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Alation
Physical Requirements:
- Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
- Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
