Position Summary
The Press Assistant works with the Printer Operator in the daily operation of the digital press to assure personal safety while meeting the needs of the Company and Customer as it pertains to quality, cost, timely deliveries and general production efficiencies.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develops working knowledge of the press and related ancillary equipment.
- Double-checks the Press Quality Checklist and alerts Printer Operator of any inconsistencies.
- Complies with all relevant Safety/Quality requirements.
- Keeps work area and supplies in a clean and orderly condition.
- Helps the Printer Operator to control waste, quality and printing errors.
- Advises Printer Operator of any potential problems relating to jobs and work area.
- Assists with set up and operation of the machine:
- Reads production schedule to determine setup or adjustment of equipment.
- Monitors inks and color tolerances throughout a production run.
- Examines product for process and material defects.
- Assists Printer Operator with Press maintenance tasks.
- May operate powered industrial vehicles and/or related material handling equipment, if necessary and certification is current.
- Support Printer Operator to maintain minimal downtime.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Printer Operator.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.

- While in the production environment, one might experience different aromas, warmer or cooler than average temperatures, elevated noise levels, lighting differences and other conditions typical of a manufacturing facility.

Job may involve regular use of hearing protection, working with inks, use of degreasers, solvents and other lubricants;
- Highly mobile, able to access all areas of the premises;

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:30p.m. Weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
