Position Overview
The Safety Partner leads the design, implementation and evaluation of programs that facilitate the safety of all employees. TheSafety Partner is an expert in Occupational Health and Safety interventions and is responsible for performing advanced, specialized and administrative & project related duties within Occupational Health and Safety. Works collaboratively at organization and department levels to ensure Occupational Health and Safety activities support the business.
This is considered an essential onsite role, which requires regular onsite attendance.

The base pay range for this position is:
$57,900
to
$79,600
Many factors influence the determination of base pay within a range, including the candidate’s work experience in related roles; the candidate’s knowledge, skills, capabilities, and performance; the relative pay of other DigiKey employees in similar roles; and the budget available for the position.

Position Overview

Responsibilities
- Executes business plans and contributes to the development of functional strategy
- Experience developing and driving cross-functional goals, projects and objectives
- Advises management on the formulation and administration of plans and policies for safety activities
- Acts as an internal consultant by analyzing and recommending solutions to safety issues relating to the assigned program or section area
- Develops, revises and implements safety policies and procedures
- Ensures program or section area is in compliance with established policies and procedures
- Assists in the planning and organizing of the assigned program or section area
- Prepares and maintains special internal and external reports as requested by management
- Answers nonroutine requests for information on policy interpretation
- Assists with developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow in the program or section area
- Develops methods and procedures for compiling and analyzing data for reports and special projects
- Conducts periodic audits of safety activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
- Works on special projects
- Presents training sessions related to the assigned program or section area
- Attends personal development meetings, conferences and seminars; locally & nationally
- Subject Matter Expert in all things Occupational Health & Safety related to DigiKey- systems, tools, processes; may mentor new Occupational Health & Safety staff
- May perform responsibilities of a Sr. Specialist (as needed)
- Expert knowledge of the safety program and all subprograms and review recommended revisions from the Safety Administrator and Committee offering timely responses, consistent with their commitment to maintaining and promoting a safe and healthy work environment
- Implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Accompanies OSHA, DOT and other third-party agencies during inspections and/or visits
- Lead company wide-program efforts through committee, program reviews, training and certification requirements
- Actively promote and enforce safety and health policies and procedures
- Annually update written safety programs after each program review
- Review and update annual trainings as required
- Coordinates and facilitates meetings and ensures record keeping of all business is in order
- Review safety and loss prevention programs and provide assistance in implementing changes and updates
- Assist in creating and implementing safety training for the business
- Evaluate process to assess risk and adherence to company policies and safety regulations
- Conduct safety observations and evaluate risks as jobs are performed
- Executes and maintains OSHA-related regulatory programs and documentation
- Analyze, trend and reduce the occurrence and cost of work-related injury claims
- Ensure workers' compensation claims are responded to timely and accurately
- Review accident investigations, injuries, and OSHA logs
- Analyze and identify trends related to claims activity to help create tactics to mitigate liability
- Properly document and maintain worker's compensation claims activities, documents, interactions and related materials in designated applications
- Comply with federal, state and local legal requirements by being knowledgeable of existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, or participating in professional societies
- Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or similar area of study
- 3 years of experience in a similar or equivalent ro
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Certification
- Candidate is well versed in the various functions of DigiKey, how they work together as well as the industry DigiKey operates in, as well as the impact and responsibility DigiKey has to the community it operates in
- Candidate is a strong representative of DigiKey brand and it's principles
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Certification
- Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
- Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
