Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Part-Time News Reporter to join the Wiregrass Daily News team. Wiregrass Daily News is the fastest growing online news brand in the Wiregrass. The ideal candidate will have a background in journalism and a keen eye for detail, capable of producing engaging news stories across various platforms. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high journalistic standards.

Duties

• Research and investigate news stories, ensuring accuracy and depth in reporting.
• Write clear, compelling articles that adhere to the publication's style guide.
• Edit content for clarity, grammar, and adherence to journalistic standards.
• Conduct interviews with sources to gather information and quotes for stories.
• Utilize photography and video skills to capture relevant media that enhance news coverage.
• Manage social media accounts to promote stories and engage with the audience.
• Cover breaking news on-site through recorded video and Facebook Live.
• Proofread all content before publication to ensure quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Journalism degree and experience preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency in video production techniques is a plus.
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills are essential.
• Strong research abilities and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with social media management and its impact on news dissemination.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and sources.
• A passion for storytelling and a commitment to ethical journalism practices.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed

• Dothan, AL 36303: Relocate before starting work (Required)
