Essential Functions:
Grant-Funded PDP Initiative (Primary Focus)
- To help colleges and universities help gain a fuller picture of student progress and outcomes, meet various reporting requirements, and identify where to focus their resources.
- Collaborations with Institutional Research (IR) Offices
- Partners with IR offices to analyze and improves PDP data submission and reporting
- Identifies inefficiencies and implements tailored automation and process improvements.
- Coordinates with 5–10 institutions to elicit requirements, gather input, and support adoption of new workflows.
- Builds lightweight, maintainable ETL pipelines using Python scripts or similar tools.
- Develops tools that automate repetitive workflows and support reliable data transfer.
- Drafts and maintains a formal, structured data dictionary to harmonize data elements across institutions.
- Provides clear, supportive training and documentation for stakeholders across varied technical skill levels.
- Translates technical processes into user-friendly language and resources.
- Serves as a liaison among coalition members, universities, and vendors to address technical challenges.
- Contributes to guidebooks, feasibility reports, and vendor proposals for advanced data solutions.
- Provides client support
- Assist with IT and data-related projects for SSG clients beyond the PDP Initiative.
- Identifies and implements new value-added services through lightweight technical solutions.
- Provides internal operations support
- Updates and enhances client’s website content and design.
- Supports team meetings and brainstorming sessions to improve operational efficiency.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to elicit, analyze, and document data requirements from diverse institutional stakeholders;
- Experience developing ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) pipelines and basic automation tools using Python or similar scripting languages;
- Comfort working with tools such as Power BI or Microsoft Power Automate (or a willingness to learn);
- Ability to create structured, shared resources such as a data dictionary or documentation portal;
- Strong organizational skills to manage deliverables across 5–10 institutions simultaneously;
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical solutions in a clear and accessible way;
- Self-starter with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Required Education and Related Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, or a related field or equivalent practical experience;
- 0–2 years of hands-on experience in a role involving data analysis, scripting, or process automation;
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with stakeholders to gather requirements and build solutions.
- Familiarity with data management in higher education or institutional research settings;
- Experience using tools like SSIS, Windmill, or low-code ETL platforms;
- Light experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress)
- This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) more than half the time
- This position requires the ability to spend more than half the time viewing computer monitors
