Role Summary : Critical Facilities Manager- Tukwila, WA
The Critical Facilities Manager is a key member of the Operations team and is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our data center facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of critical infrastructure, including UPS systems, generators, HVAC systems, and power distribution. The manager will oversee construction projects, ensure vendor compliance, and lead emergency responses to equipment failures.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing mission-critical facilities, supervising teams, and working with external contractors to maintain the highest standards of reliability, safety, and efficiency.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties
- Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure, including systems such as diesel generators, UPS, power distribution equipment, transfer switches, cooling towers, HVAC, fire detection / suppression, life safety systems, and building monitoring systems.
- Respond to and manage after-hours data center issues, ensuring swift investigation, mitigation, and resolution.
- Supervise on-site management of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with established practices, procedures, and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Act as the primary point of contact for local client relationships and facility operations.
- Manage and support critical facilities engineers and shift staff, providing leadership, training, and performance feedback.
- Develop and manage the annual facility budget, quarterly forecasts, and long-term maintenance plans.
- Ensure all work is performed to the highest standards and in compliance with customer SLAs.
- Create, implement, and maintain Method of Procedures (MOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs).
- Maintain readiness to achieve 99.999% uptime by proactively managing maintenance schedules, spare parts inventories, and risk mitigation plans.
- Oversee custodial and general maintenance tasks, including routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Lead facility improvement projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals and operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including diesel fuel storage, emissions, refrigeration systems, life safety, and emergency response planning.
