The Security Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, and integration of security systems, including access control, surveillance cameras, intrusion alarms, and structured low-voltage cabling. This role focuses on project-based security installations, ensuring all systems meet industry standards, project specifications, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low-voltage systems, a solid understanding of security infrastructure, and the ability to execute high-quality installations in commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security System Installation & Configuration
- Install and configure access control systems, surveillance cameras, intrusion alarms, and security automation systems.
- Install and secure low-voltage devices such as door controllers, card readers, cameras, and alarm sensors.
- Perform low-voltage circuit wiring, terminations, and connections for security equipment.
- Ensure all installed systems are operational, tested, and optimized for customer use.
- Interpret and follow blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications for system layouts.
- Low-Voltage & Composite Wiring
- Pull, terminate, and manage various types of low voltage cabling for security devices.
- Ensure proper wire management and organization for professional-grade installations.
- Work with conduits, cable management systems, and structured cabling pathways.
- System Integration & Programming
- Integrate security systems with network infrastructure, access control platforms, and video management software.
- Perform basic IP networking configurations, including assigning static IPs and setting up remote access.
- Conduct firmware updates and apply necessary patches to security devices.
- Compliance & Safety
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and industry best practices for low-voltage electrical work.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national low-voltage regulations.
- Maintain organized documentation for system installations, device locations, and wiring pathways.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience in security system installation and low-voltage infrastructure.
- Strong proficiency in access control systems, surveillance cameras, and alarm systems (e.g., Milestone, Axis, Genetec, Lenel S2, Bosch).
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage wiring, terminations, and composite wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and security layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce clean, professional installations.
- Valid driver's license with a clean record and ability to travel to job sites.
Preferred:
- Experience with relay logic, maglocks, and door strike installations.
- Knowledge of power supply configurations and PoE device setups.
- Relevant manufacturer certifications (e.g., Milestone, Lenel S2, Genetec, Axis).
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- On-site work at customer locations, including commercial buildings, schools, and industrial facilities.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time and complete overhead work for long periods of time.
- Occasional weekend work may be required for project deadlines.
