Role Description
As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of various tax and accounting processes within our firm. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with clients in various industries including real estate, medical, and legal to name a few as well as contribute to various tax services including income tax, payroll tax, sales tax, and tangible tax. This position is ideal for an up-and-coming accountant to truly grow as a professional within a practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bookkeeping functions including recording, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare and examine accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Manage the payroll process including preparing and reviewing payroll tax returns including 941, RT-6, 940, and W2/W-3.
- Manage the sales tax process including preparing and reviewing sales tax returns.
- Prepare various types of income tax returns including 1040, 1040-NR, 1041, 1120, 1120-S, F-1120, 1065, 5471, 5472, 114.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Tax or Accounting; CPA certification preferred or on track for CPA required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in a public accounting practice.
- Proficiency in accounting software, specifically QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online, and advanced Excel skills with experience using pivot tables.
- Proficiency in tax software, such as CCH Axcess Tax/Prosystems or UltraTax.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter, who works effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to type 45 wpm
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
