Job Description
Pixel Acuity is seeking a short-term (3-4 month) Digital Imaging Technician at the Los Angeles : Culver City location. This role will be primarily responsible for imaging nitrate film as part of a medium-scale digitization project. In this position, you will have the chance to learn about historical photographic processes, archival materials handling, and cutting edge instant-capture digitization techniques. The scope of work requires close attention to detail and following imaging instructions for the project. Additional training on technical and specific tasks for this position will be provided on-site. Students who are pursuing cultural heritage careers and are looking for experience in a real-world cultural collections environment are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications and Experience
- Work experience in photography, digitization, or related field
- Experience with heritage materials including, but not limited to, photographic prints and positive / negative film
- Experience with photography / image software suites (Capture One, Adobe Lightroom, etc.)
- Knowledge of current heritage imaging and technologies, standards, and best practices (FADGI, ISO19264)
- Experience with transmissive digitization workflows and post-processing (preferred)
