Position: Network Monitoring Engineer
Location: Westerville, OH Day 1 onsite
Position summary:
Network Monitoring Engineer: Focus on network-related tools like NetBrain and LiveNX.
Cloud Monitoring (Azure): Monitor cloud-based infrastructure, specifically within Azure Cloud environments. Ensure proper monitoring of cloud-hosted applications and services, optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability in cloud environments.
Monitoring Tools Management: Oversee the setup, management, and maintenance of monitoring tools, including DataDog, Dynatrace, SolarWinds, NetBrain, LiveNX, AppDynamics, Thousand Eyes, and Cimtrak
Research & Development: Perform independent research to continuously improve monitoring capabilities and tools. Collaborate with the development and operations teams to understand needs and deliver efficient monitoring solutions.
Issue Identification: Monitor for potential issues such as outages, downtime, and device failures. Proactively identify and address issues to maintain optimal system performance.
Tool Configuration & Development: Assist in configuring tools and setting up monitoring alerts and reports. While not a primary developer, you should be comfortable developing basic scripts to automate processes and address gaps in monitoring.
Collaboration & Communication: Communicate with various teams to bring new capabilities to light and align monitoring with business requirements.
Support team members and contribute to best practices in monitoring and alerting.
Experience with Monitoring Tools: Deep understanding of monitoring tools such as NetBrain, LiveNX. Familiarity with AppDynamics/ Thousand Eyes / Dynatrace, DataDog, SolarWinds or Cimtrak is a plus.
Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages, particularly Unix/Linux scripts and PowerShell.
Experience in Tool Management: Experience managing monitoring tools, understanding what needs to be monitored, and being able to configure tools accordingly, even though you are not the end user of the tool.
Tool Integration Knowledge: Understanding of how different monitoring tools integrate with existing infrastructure and workflows, providing solutions that enhance overall monitoring performance.
