HVAC Lead Installer

Job Description

Digitrol is in search of a HVAC Lead Installer who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial HVAC installation on a construction project, including managing crews of sheet metal workers and equipment installers, ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications, maintaining quality control, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring safety compliance throughout the installation process; essentially leading and directing all installation activities on a construction site to meet project deadlines and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Project planning and execution:
• Review project drawings and specifications to understand HVAC system requirements.
• Develop detailed work plans and schedules for installation.
• Estimate labor, materials, and equipment needs for the HVAC scope.
• Coordinate with other trades on site to ensure proper sequencing of work.
• Crew management and supervision:
• Lead and supervise teams of installers, including foremen and laborers.
• Assign tasks and monitor crew productivity to meet project timelines.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to crew members
• Address any issues or conflicts within the piping crew
• Quality control:
• Inspect installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Perform quality checks, measurements, and equipment/duct alignment.
• Identify and resolve quality issues promptly.
• Safety management:
• Enforce all safety protocols on the job site related to installation.
• Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks with the crew
• Investigate and report any safety incidents
• Cost control:
• Monitor project budget for installation activities
• Identify potential cost overruns and implement corrective actions
• Communication and collaboration:
• Maintain open communication with project managers, engineers, other trade superintendents, and subcontractors
• Report project progress and any issues to relevant stakeholders
  

Required skills and qualifications:

• Extensive experience in the HVAC industry, ideally with supervisory roles
• Thorough understanding of HVAC design, installation methods, and techniques
• Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures relevant to installation
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Proficiency in project management tools and software
