Director of Real Estate Asset Management - Student Housing

On behalf of our client, a well-established real estate investment management firm, we are seeking an experienced Vice President/Director of Asset Management specializing in Student Housing. Position Overview: The VP/Director of Asset Management will oversee a portfolio of multifamily and student housing assets, including stabilized properties, repositioning efforts, and development projects. This role reports to senior leadership within the Student Housing and Multifamily vertical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial performance monitoring and reporting against business plans
- Conduct regular site visits to assess property conditions and market performance (~2 days travel per week)
- Manage relationships with operating partners and property management teams
- Drive strategic planning for property branding, programming, and lease-up strategies
- Oversee development and renovation projects
- Collaborate with acquisition teams on investment evaluation
- Monitor market trends and optimize property business plans
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of real estate asset management experience
- 5 years specifically in student housing asset management
- Strong operational background with hands-on experience
- Proven track record with operating platforms and third-party contract negotiations
- Advanced financial modelling skills and Excel proficiency
- Strategic mindset with investment strategy development experience
- Exceptional analytical and decision-making capabilities
